General Information

EXtended Artificial Intelligence (XtAI) is a Masters Course at JMU, leading to a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree. The course, taught entirely in English, and combines the two major scientific fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (XR). Through a large variety of theoretical and practical lectures on AI, Machine Learning and 3D interfaces, students are tought the theoretical foundations as well as current application scenarios of state-of-the-art AI and XR methods. XtAI provides students with key skills and knowledge in the field of AI and XR, enabling them to design, develop, interact with and manage complex artificial intelligence systems.

Main Emphasis

XtAI is a computer science master course with a heavy focus on theoretical foundations and practical applications of AI. Students learn the intuitions and functionality behind a large variety of AI approaches, while being able to apply their knowledge in practical applications around XR in the XtAI Labs.

Research Center: Artificial Intelligence - Würzburg

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science (DS) enable the processing and extraction of information from huge amounts of data, in order to automate a large variety of processes. With increased processing power and availability of large amounts of data, AI has risen to a center point of research in computer science. To help lead the research of AI in a global scope, the JMU is currently building a Center for Artificial Intelligence in Data Science (CAIDAS) including 22 professors all conducting research around the areas of AI and DS.

Specialised course in Artificial Intelligence

To further drive the research in AI through new and interesting ideas, JMU aims to give students the opportunity to explore the current state of AI through offering an increasing amount of lectures focusing on aggregating, extracting, and processing data with machine learning approaches. XtAI offers students the opportunity to explore the thoughts and operating modes behind past and current state-of-the-art AI approaches in the context of virtual reality, with content and applications from a multitude of research areas.
